There are 3 government entities that all influence the specific property taxes for each home they are county, township, school district. Below is a chart of the Grand Rapids Area millage rates for property taxes. here is how to read the chart.
So when figuring out property tax rates you need to know which county the property is located in, the township or city in which the home is located and the school district which covers the area where the home is located.
Example: (Kent County, Ada Township, Forest Hills School) or (Kent County, Cascade Township, Forest Hills Schools)

This is how to calculate your property taxes based on millage rates when you have located your taxable value (Which is somewhere near half the market value of your home):
Example:
$100,000 Home, $50,000 Taxable value (Kent County, Ada township, Forest Hills Schools located below) millage = 28.7644
Take the taxable value and multiple it by (the millage rate with the decimal places to the left Example: 28.7644 is now .0287644 for calculation purposes)
50,000 X .0287644 = $1438.22
